I want to thank Janae for this wonderful opportunity to share on her wonderful blog. I have been meditating for about 2 years solid now, it wasn’t always like that. I grew up in a crummy life situation that caused me some set backs with Depression, Anxiety, and even PTSD. I spent 4 years in weekly therapy sessions trying to heal. It wasn’t until I started working with my first life coach that I opened my mind to meditation and what it really could do for me. I started exploring it and getting all the freebies I could find from people and started reading about it. Gabby Bernstein was one of the first people I came across who talked about it.

I never fully grasped what meditation can do for you until well 2 years down the road when I look back on where life was and how my relationships were. I dove head first into this completely woo-woo and foreign thing, not knowing if it was going to be worth it. I am deeply grateful that I took that leap of faith because through learning, building a meditation practice and actually doing meditations there has been an amazing shift in life. My relationship with myself has become stronger, I healed my PTSD, I now manage anxiety with a simple 30-second meditation when symptoms start. My relationship with my children has shifted drastically, I went from a reactive mother to a more relaxed mother who now has open communication with my children (9, 8, & 4). My marriage has seen a major shift. My husband and I don’t fight anymore, I have used meditation to help me gain awareness of myself so that if a situation arises, I don’t get reactive, rather I listen and respond with respect to myself and husband.

My suggestion for anyone who is hesitant about it must try it. Guided meditations are great for starting. It’s going to feel very strange and honestly rather awkward at first but the more you do it the more you will open your mind. Awareness gets stronger and when you are more aware you are less reactive. Being less reactive makes life go by smoother. It also helps you problem solve better when “life happens.” When you have a stronger sense of self-awareness you also have a stronger ability to see the bigger picture in many situations. When you are calm the LOA (laws of attraction) can also really take place in your life too. I was a skeptic about LOA and meditation and honestly anything “woo-woo” or “spiritual.” I didn’t believe that my life was going to get any better than it was, that I had hit my highest point.

I was wrong, I now have a daily meditation practice that I do with a guided meditation plus my journaling I see as a form of meditation as well. When I wake up in the morning if I don’t complete my journaling and my meditation then I feel like my entire day is off balance. Since implementing¬†meditation into my routines and life I have seen growth in myself, in my relationships, in my business and even in my connection with other people. I am more loving, understanding, welcoming and supportive than insecure, fearful, and shy. I was a massive introvert for 2 decades of my life but I have outgrown my shell. Because I have a higher self-confidence now that I know my job in life is to focus on myself. Without taking care of myself I can’t be a helpful mother or wife.

So my question for you is what do you have to lose? What could really go wrong or be life threatening if you took 2 minutes every day to be present in your life? To silence your phone, to turn off the tv or radio, to sit and focus on your breathing, to notice your body, to give thanks for being alive, to acknowledge that you have things others only dream of having, that you are part of a larger picture. What do you have to lose from taking 2 minutes (or less whatever you are comfortable with) to reconnect with yourself and check in? You truly are missing out on having that life you have always dreamed of. The only way to get that life is to change the things in yourself that you do not like or wish to continue. Then you will begin to let go of things you no longer need, you will begin to make space for joy, freedom, and abundance in your life. Before you know it you will have transformed your life just as I have mine.
